What's Happening at HNHS

Gilg

Jan Hildebrand’s Child Development students will once again be experiencing a mock pregnancy with an Empathy Belly.    The Empathy Belly is a vest that students can wear that is based on the size and weight a mother would be carrying if she were seven months pregnant.  The students will carry approximately 22 - 27 pounds of ‘baby’ while they are “pregnant.”

This year, with approval from Principal Rief Gilg and the student’s parents, the CD students will wear the pregnancy simulator throughout the school day.  There could be both female and male students who show up to class on any given day “seven months pregnant.”  The CD students are excited to participate in this activity and we have received positive feedback from many parents as well.  Mr. Gilg is shown demonstrating the Empathy Belly.

DAR Good Citizen Award

Clark Kitchen was recently recognized as the DAR Good Citizen recipient for 2018.  This award is presented annually to one Huntington North HS Senior who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities.  Clark now has the opportunity to be selected, among other DAR Good Citizen recipients in Indiana, as a state representative for the national DAR Good Citizen scholarship program.  We wish him good luck and congratulations on this achievement!
