The mission of Family & Consumer Sciences is to prepare students for family life, work life, and careers in family and consumer sciences by providing opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed to become responsible citizens and leaders in family, community, and work settings. The department offers a wide variety of core, advanced, enrichment and occupational courses in the areas of human development, foods and nutrition, education and early childhood, and health services. Classes are available for both boys and girls in grades 9-12. All 9th grade students must take a career class, called Preparing for College and Careers.
