Huntington, IN — Huntington North High School is proud to announce the 5th annual JROTC Raider Competition, taking place on Saturday, August 31st, at 8 a.m. sharp. This event marks a significant milestone, celebrating five years of hosting a competition that challenges the strength, endurance, and teamwork of JROTC cadets from across the region. The event will be held at the JROTC Training Complex, formerly known as Kreigbaum Field. Spectators are welcome to attend this thrilling event, free of charge, and witness the determination and skill of the participating teams.
The competition will feature a robust lineup of teams from various schools, including Huntington North, Concordia, Warsaw, Marion, Ben Davis, Indianapolis Public School, Terre Haute, Elkhart, Jay County, and Blackford. Each school brings its best, with multiple teams ready to compete in a series of physically demanding events.
Participants will face off in a variety of challenging events designed to push their limits. The competition includes a 5km run, a vehicle push, and the one-rope bridge, along with The Gauntlet—an intense obstacle course featuring agility tires, a 10-foot wall, boat carry, and litter carry. Cadets will also take on the Physical Team Test, which includes over-under benches, log tosses, buddy carries, lunges, and tire flips, capped off with a tire pull. These events are a true test of physical and mental endurance, requiring both individual skill and team coordination.
In addition to the action on the course, spectators can enjoy a variety of refreshments and Raider merchandise available for purchase. Items for sale include slushies, popcorn, snacks, hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage, and pancakes, along with Raider-themed T-shirts, hoodies, book bags, and other swag. All proceeds from these sales will go directly toward funding the HNHS Raiders’ participation in the Raider Nationals at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Payment can be made with cash, checks, or PayPal.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, including Zahm Trailer Sales, and Juergen’s Do It Best, as well as various donations from families and supporters. Their contributions help ensure the success of this event and support the ongoing efforts of the JROTC program.
As the competition season kicks off, the HNHS Raiders are also preparing for several upcoming events, including the Ben Davis competition on September 14th, the Concordia Lutheran competition on September 28th, the Indiana State Championship at Camp Atterbury on October 5th, and the Raider Nationals at Ft. Knox, Kentucky from October 24-26th.
We encourage everyone to come out and support the Huntington North JROTC Raiders as they compete with pride and determination, continuing a tradition of excellence that has been building for five years.
